Everyone Can Make A Difference - Will You?

Everyone Can Make A Difference - Will You?

Category: Junior Producer/Director/Editor/Screenwriter/DOP: Tawney Hougaard and Katharine Oppenlander Katharine and Tawney are both grade 12 students currently at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School. They have been in the film program there for 3 years. They were interested in the contest because they want to be able to make a difference. They picked the location specifically because it evokes a feeling of homelessness and darkness, contrasting the sunny day. They chose a younger actor to show that homelessness can happen to anyone regardless of age. Their video is focused on the fact that anybody can make a difference - whether it is getting them something to eat or drink or phoning a shelter and getting them help. They wanted to portray that no matter how small the action, you can still make a difference and do something to help.

Category: Junior Director/Producer/Editor/Screenwriter: Lucas Swaddling DOP: Jillian Swaddling Lucas Swaddling is currently 16 years old and a grade 11 student at Fraser Heights Secondary School. Since he was very young he's had a strong passion for technology.Over the past few years he's been working on improving his skills in the fields of editing and filming by helping friends with various multimedia projects. He was fortunate enough to volunteer on a media crew at 2 summer camps in 2013. This taught him various techniques in filming along with how to work in a time crunch. He hopes to continue growing these skills, maybe even pursuing a post-secondary education in the creative arts.

Vancity Community Foundation 20th Anniversary Video - Community Stories

http://VancityCommunityFoundation.ca At Vancity Community Foundation, we take very seriously our role as a catalyst for positive change in communities. We have worked with hundreds of community organizations to effect such change, as we believe that together, more becomes possible. The VCF Community Stories video shows the compounding effect of even a small initial grant. Two of the organizations we support, Farm Folk/City Folk and United We Can, are featured in this video. Farm Folk/City Folk (with Vancouver Farmers' Markets) supports local food systems. United We Can is an inspiring social enterprise that supports recycling and job creation in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. If you would like to learn more about how to support these organizations or work with us for your community, call us at 604.877.7647.
